Right on the PCH, "flanked by two large shopping centers" and two miles from the state beach, this independent outfit that's "close to all things in Carmel/Monterey" may look like a "drab", "old motel" from the outside, but the inside's a "pleasant surprise", with a redone "'70s retro look" that uses "bright aquatic colors" but isn't "too overdone"; the admittedly "small" rooms have "no views" but do include "upscale touches" like iPod docks, 37-inch flat-screens and beds with "great sheets and comfy mattresses."

Very nice staff, clean hotel room and EXCELLENT location.
Very late check in time, but in all fairness, they accommodated our early arrival.

Excellent location next to nice restaurants and shopping and easy access to main highway.

The attempt to solve a problem.
Poor service from waiter Nolberto.

I was in 3 different rooms to find out the wall thermostat did not adjust the room AC/heater unit under the window. The manager was friendly and attempted to find an room that the wall thermostat worked. He helped me with my moves. He did give me a breakfast voucher for Sunday. However server Nolbert said restaurant was opening 30 minute late due to a sick call in. Finally I was seated, he brought me a plate, then a soda (don't drink coffee). He did not ask me if I wanted juice. He did not ask me if I wanted anything else. He laid the bill on my table-without saying a word. I receive better service at McDonald's! ...read more

The retro look room was very nice.
The hot water failed the second morning causing cold or no shower.

Good location by the Barnyard shopping center. Very friendly staff.

The location was close to a shopping center with restaurants within walking distance.
The shower was very small with two soap dishes and the handicap handle right were my elbow should have been. And I am a small person at only 5'2".

My husband and I were on a four day romantic get-away motorcycle ride through California's central coast. This hotel was far from romantic. It would be OK for a business traveler who was just passing through and looking for a room to sleep in. Luckily I had only booked this room for one night. ...read more

Outlets needed adapter for Laptop.

This hotel was very surprising. Very well decorated and classy. Older but remodeled, and landscaped to a tropical environment. Flat screen TVs, No charge for parking and internet included.
